Brian has been diagnosed a psychopath because he seems to lack a conscience, commits many crimes, and appears to be unable to care about others except in the most superficial way. Psychopaths are notoriously untreatable by psychotherapy, and medication doesn't seem to address the basic problem (no conscience). Scientific research suggests that psychopaths are born, not made. In other words, Brian can't help it. o Should Brian be punished for something he can't help? o What if he wasn't born that way but had a brain injury that changed his behavior? o Brian has gone from petty drug-related crimes to more violent crimes. o Decide what to do about Brian. o PS--Brian is your big brother. He saved your life when you were 10. He's a lot of fun. He says he'll do better in the future.
