The social perceiver may not have not gathered relevant information
Characterizing information on the basis of preexisting theories is unwise - the theory may be faulty or suspect
The social perceiver may be biased if the inference is based on a small sample size of the population's characteristics
Larger samples are more reliable - the principle is called the law of large numbers- however people often overgeneralize from small unrepresentative samples
