Scholars have the capacity to create new knowledge in their fields. It takes hard work to conduct research and many students are unwilling to put in the time necessary to deliver high-level scholarship. Before I start researching a subject I spend a month reading as much past research as I possibly can. Right now, I am working on audiences perceptions of films remade for contemporary audiences. The first thing I did was to search for articles on audience research in the GCU library. My search pulled up 10 peer-reviewed articles and 3 magazine articles. I have read two peer-reviewed articles and the 3 magazine stories so far. I have learned about two different research facilities and an online publication dedicated to audience research, which I have bookmarked in my toolbar on my computer. A quick glance has revealed the online publication is on volume ten, which means I probably will read at least one article per volume. At the end of the month I will have read 20 peer reviewed articles and three magazines. I have not written a word, nor have I conducted any research. My paper will probably be 10 pages long when it is finished. This is what scholar does to demonstrate high-level scholarship. This semester all of you were asked to read three articles. Have any of you read additional material on the subjects of transactional and transformational leadership? Have you read any of the references the authors provided in their literature review sections? If so, what did you find? If not, why not?
