The final project is a culmination of the concepts and reflections that you have learned in this course. The final project supports the following learning outcomes:
1. Analyze the evolving role of technology in society.
2. Debate moral concerns as they relate to the applications of technology.
3. Assess the role of technology in professional environments.
For your final project, you be identifying a different social issue and finding a new nonprofit organization that is addressing the social issues you identified. Nonprofit organizations use technology to foster activities in political, ethical, religious, social, and intellectual spheres, so make sure technology is included in your discussion.
- Complete your investigation of a problem that your nonprofit is attempting to resolve.
- Complete your research of the problems and potential solutions to the problems related to your social issue.
- In this presentation and paper, be sure to consider the moral or ethical concerns related to technology in your discussion.
- You will then propose a solution to the identified nonprofit organization in the form of a proposal (paper) and a recorded presentation.
o The written proposal will support the recorded presentation and may present more detail than is possible in the 5-10 minute video.
Your final presentation will be a 5-10 minute recorded and narrated video to the CEO and administrative staff of your chosen nonprofit, proposing a solution you found that may be appropriate and effective, based on your research of the issue during this course. Do Not just read your paper, but make a convincing argument for your problem, proposed solution, research, and moral or ethical concerns.
For example, the nonprofit Habitat for Humanity addresses the social issue of homelessness. The nonprofit VoteVetsaddresses issues specifically related to veterans.
Throughout this course you have been working to develop this final project (paper) to:
- Identify the social issue
- Select a non-profit
- Determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the mission of your chosen non-profit organization (SWOT),
- Determine an opportunity that you may be able to help with to improve the non-profit,
- Determine a potential solution, research the solution, justify it, considering the moral or ethical concerns related to technology in your discussion. and then
- Present your proposed solution to the non-profit in both written and recorded presentation form (but don't just read your paper, use images, charts or additional ways to support it.)
Although there are many similar components from last week's proposal, not all of them are being asked this week, and some additional ones are included. You can chose to use that same format if you wish, or just write a paper with the above aspects included.
