Ambiguous and “garden path” sentences have given us insight into how we process incoming auditory information in real time, and how we deal with some of the challenges. Give an example of a) an ambiguous sentence, b) a pair of sentences that differ in only a single word at the end of the sentence, but have very different meanings, and c) a garden path sentence. Explain the challenges each of these types of sentences presents to our perceptual system. How does minimal attachment relate to processing these kinds of sentences, and what evidence do Phonemic Restorations provide to support or refute this explanation?
