Curtin University is an internationally respected research and teaching university based in Perth. The University was founded around 45 years ago as the Western Australian Institute of Technology, and was accorded university status in the year 1987.
In addition to its Bentley campus in Perth, Cur tin has campuses in Sydney, Singapore and Malaysia, and in the regional campuses and education centers throughout Western Australia. Over 46,000 students are studying courses at Cur tin campuses, and with over 19,000 international students, Cur tin is called as WA’s largest and most diverse university.
The University has comprehensive teaching and research programs across five areas: Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Humanities, Cur tin Business School, Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Centre for Aboriginal Studies.
Cur tin’s delivery of high-impact research is evidenced by its inclusion in the top 500 research universities of the Academic Ranking of World Universities. In particular, Cur tin is recognized for four areas of research strength: minerals and energy, ICT and budding technologies, exploring development, and health.
Within minerals and energy Cur tin continues to deliver research and education initiatives that serve the global resources industry. For instance, the 116 million dollar Cur tin Resources and Chemistry Precinct is a hub and for the government, industry and university collaborations. In addition, the precinct hosts the Cur tin Institute of Minerals and Energy.
The Australian Sustainable Development Institute at Cur tin combines the academic resources of 17 research centers, with expertise that spans from biodiversity through to sustainable tourism. A notable example is the Cur tin Water Quality Research Centre that focuses on improving water quality and treatment processes.
Cur tin is also one of the most comprehensive providers of health sciences education and research in The Western Australia. Research in the population ageing, health, Indigenous health chronic conditions, and mental health is coordinated by the Cur tin Health Innovation Research Institute.
Within the Cur tin research teams in housing economics, Business School, finance, business law and information systems, and taxation benefit from the assistance of national grants and industry collaborations. And the Universities’ Graduate School of Business provides an internationally ranked and accredited MBA program which The Economist magazine ranks an impressive third in Australia and fourth in Asia, based on student quality faculty quality, and diversity, and education experience.
